Aurora’s Yon T Is Building His Own World One Release at a Time

At 24 years old, Aurora native Yon T is proving that success doesn’t always come from waiting for opportunities—it comes from creating them. The independent artist has spent years developing not only his music, but an entire creative ecosystem around it.

One of Yon T’s biggest milestones came when his song “stupid ass goofy ass b****” began taking off across TikTok and Instagram Reels, appearing in videos with millions of views and inspiring thousands of users to create content with the track. For Yon T, seeing people use his music to tell their own stories has been one of the most rewarding parts of his journey.

His path hasn’t been easy. Growing up in the suburbs, Yon T learned to wear every hat imaginable—artist, photographer, videographer, editor, promoter, merchandise printer, and creative director—all while continuing to refine his sound. That DIY mentality has helped him build a loyal community and create opportunities for both himself and those around him.

Having written his first rap in fourth grade, released his first single at 15, and dropped his debut EP at 20, Yon T has spent years laying the foundation for what’s next. Looking ahead, his goal is to perform on bigger stages, release full-length projects, and build a career that allows him to create full time while continuing to grow the culture surrounding his music.
