Dorbor Wulu Is Building His Own World With Sound of Da Bird

Born in Minneapolis and raised in the city’s northwest suburbs by Liberian refugees, Dorbor Wulu has built a sound shaped by spirituality, identity, and his Minnesota roots.

Wulu began making music in 2020 and started gaining local media attention by 2022. His latest project, Sound of Da Bird, released August 10, 2026, brings together alternative and conscious hip-hop with spiritual lyricism, ethereal production.

Across eight tracks, Wulu explores faith, healing, self-determination, and what it means to consciously build the life you want. Songs like “Da Bird: Feel A Rise,” “My Dri<3,” “F Wut Dey TV,” “Id(D)ol,” and “Black Bob Dylan” each expand on that idea from a different angle.

The project’s cover shows a woven nest burning in rural Minnesota, tying together migration, transformation, Leo symbolism, and the unrest that followed George Floyd’s murder in 2020—the same year Wulu began making music.

With Sound of Da Bird, Dorbor Wulu is doing more than releasing songs. He’s building a world around his own beliefs, experiences, and vision.
