Chicago artist SOLOCELO is entering a new chapter with the release of his latest single, “ROCKETMAN.” Known for blending melodic rap, alternative pop, and personal storytelling, SOLOCELO has steadily built a following through his genre-bending sound and willingness to experiment.
Originally from Chicago’s South Side, SOLOCELO has spent years developing his sound as both an artist and audio engineer, previously working with artists including Duke Deuce, Mario Judah, and TheHxliday. His catalog includes projects like DEPARTURES and DEPARTURES 1.5, which explore themes of growth, relationships, and self-discovery. With “ROCKETMAN,” those themes become even more personal.
In a recent Instagram post, SOLOCELO opened up about the challenges he’s experienced since moving back to Chicago, including lost friendships, relationship struggles, and feeling stuck writing music about his past.
“Ever since I moved back to Chicago I’ve been in this weird cycle of just making songs about the past,” he shared.
Rather than continuing that cycle, SOLOCELO sees “ROCKETMAN” as an opportunity to move forward. He described the release as the beginning of a much larger story, promising to give listeners a closer look into his personal life than ever before.
For an artist whose previous work has often centered on navigating change, “ROCKETMAN” represents another step in that evolution. It’s not just another release, but the introduction to what SOLOCELO hopes will be a new era of music and storytelling.
“ROCKETMAN” is out now on Apple Music.
