For Spitgod J, music was never something he had to discover. It was already part of his life. Growing up in a house where music was constantly playing, becoming an artist felt less like a calculated decision and more like a natural progression. The sounds around him, his family, and the culture of Chicago all helped shape the foundation of the artist he would eventually become.
“Music was always in my house,” he explains. “My family was always playing music, so becoming an artist kinda just came to me naturally.” That connection to Chicago runs deep throughout Spitgod J’s identity. When describing where he comes from, he keeps it simple: “Chicago. 30sum. Staying alive.” It’s a statement that says a lot with very little. Survival, ambition, and representing where you come from are all central to the world he is building.
But Spitgod J’s vision stretches beyond simply becoming a successful rapper. He sees himself becoming a successful independent artist and record-label CEO, eventually building a roster filled with talented musicians who are willing to push genres forward instead of fitting comfortably inside them. That entrepreneurial mindset puts ownership at the center of his goals. Rather than viewing success only through streams, popularity, or individual accomplishments, he wants to create an infrastructure where other artists can grow alongside him.
His inspirations reflect that combination of music, faith, family, and ambition. He points first to God, his family, his wife, and his city before naming artists such as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Each represents something different: originality, longevity, lyricism, independence, influence, and the ability to create a world larger than the music itself. At the center of everything, though, is perseverance.
Spitgod J understands that life does not always move in a straight line. Situations change, opportunities disappear, and difficult periods can make progress feel impossible. His philosophy is to keep moving anyway. “Life gets hard, but tables always turn. Never give up,” he says. “As long as you keep going, you always got a chance to better your situation—or at least learn how to live with it.”
It’s a mindset that feels closely connected to his Chicago upbringing. Keep going. Stay alive. Build something of your own. For Spitgod J, the goal isn’t simply to make music. It’s to create longevity, ownership, and opportunity—first for himself, and eventually for an entire roster of artists ready to change what comes next.
