Get To Know SonKovu

SonKovu is a 21-year-old artist from Chicago who comes from a musical family. He grew up watching his uncles and cousins record, which eventually pushed him to start making music of his own. A big inspiration behind what he does is his late uncle, who also went by SonKovu, and continuing that name is his way of keeping his legacy alive.

For SonKovu, one of the biggest steps has simply been getting comfortable putting himself and his music out there. Growing up in Chicago, he says staying focused and not following the wrong crowd was a challenge, and that experience shaped the kind of example he wants to set. His goal is to show people that it’s okay to be different, think bigger, and go your own way.

Looking ahead, he hopes to be making music full-time and touring the world.
