Estonian-born artist Marta Klein is building her presence in New York City's alternative music scene with a sound that blends pop-punk, alternative rock, and personal storytelling. After attending high school in Florida and studying performance in Spain and the United States, Klein enrolled in NYU's songwriting program, where she continued developing her artistic identity.
In September 2025, Klein released her debut EP, mixed signals, a five-track project produced by Chris Clark. Featuring songs like "still thinking bout u," "uncomplicate it," and "miami beach," the project explores complicated relationships, impulsive decisions, and the uncertainty of young adulthood. Her sound draws from early 2000s alternative music, with influences reminiscent of Avril Lavigne and Paramore.
Klein has since expanded her catalog with releases including "cooler now," "crime," and her October 2026 collaboration with 2facedlon, "$tyle." Her music stands out for its direct lyricism and willingness to explore uncomfortable emotions without romanticizing them. As she continues releasing music and establishing herself in New York, Klein is developing a distinct voice within a new generation of alternative artists.
